She Made it Through the Rain; Can She Make it Through This One?

Someone please call Mariah’s manager because I would like to have a word with him. Is it just us or did everyone else think Mariah’s new music video was a total fail?

This “songbird supreme” has raised quite a few eyebrows for her video “You’re Mine” (Eternal). Haven’t seen it yet? Don’t bother. You’ll be as confused as we are when you’re done. You barely even notice the lyrics of the song because you’re glued on the screen trying to figure out what she’s really trying to do in her video. Even she looks uncomfortable singing her song in the video. You go, girlfriend!

There are so many different little things in the video, which confuses the viewers of its main theme. Is she a mermaid? Is she some love-struck girl who just lost a lot of her laundry? (Seriously, Mariah baby, what is up with all the boobs in the video?)


There are also shots in the scene where there are glittery gold butterfly wings on her back. I mean c’mon, what’s it going to be? It would have been better if they focused mainly on one theme instead of just these different unorganized concepts, which have all been dumped in one video.

Now if that’s not bad enough, Trey Songz (Bless you, child), this hot young singer is just standing there acting cute and everything. They don’t even have a decent shot together. He’s even standing in what looks like a photoshoot location. How does that all fit in the whole mermaid-butterfly-whatever concept?

I’m sensing a huge flop for Mariah because even when the video was released a day before Valentines, it only has 2.4 million views so far. It may seem like a pretty big number but compared to all the other artists, Mariah may have just created a downfall in her career. Her talent is still there, no question. But with all these fresh new artists bringing spice in the music industry, do you think Mariah should soon think about hanging her singing shoes?
